Isn’t life just getting more and more expensive by the day? I feel your pain. I know that with all of us tightening our belts, the opportunities to travel are getting less and less. You can still do it though!

I’ve put together all of my top tricks and travel tips to save money on your adventures. If you manage to cut a few costs here and there, it means you can travel for further for longer.

Best Travel Tips to Save Money on Your Trip

1. Compare websites for prices

It’s always worth doing a Google search for your activity or hotel and comparing the prices to get the best deal. Sometimes you can find the same attraction or hotel at wildly different prices. It really does pay to spend a few minutes (sometimes hours!) on researching your trip fully. Look on comparison sites like Destinia to compare affordable hotels, flights and trips.

2. Travel in the off season

One of the best ways to save money on travel is to plan your trips during the off-season. Prices for accommodation, flights, and activities are generally lower during this period due to decreased demand. Not only will you save money, but you’ll also enjoy fewer crowds and a more authentic experience at your chosen destination.

If possible, it’s so much better and cheaper to travel in the off season.

3. Be flexible with your travel dates

Being flexible with your travel dates can be a game-changer when it comes to saving money. If you have the luxury of choosing when to travel, try to avoid peak travel seasons and weekends, as prices tend to be significantly higher during these periods. Instead, opt for mid-week travel which often comes with attractive discounts.

One simple way to start planning smarter is by organising your travel dates and itinerary ahead of time. You can even use a printable calendar from Canva to map out off-season dates, flight alerts, and savings goals.

For example, we went to Budapest Wednesday (to Saturday) – and the flights were £30 from Bournemouth Airport. Bargain!

4. Buy cut-price experiences from Amazon
